COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Lafayette transferred management of its One Lafayette fund to the Community Foundation Boulder County after voters approved a dedicated mental health and human services sales tax in 2021—this year, the foundation awarded about $29,000 to 12 nonprofits that deliver food assistance, youth support, and safety-net services. The Community Trust process, led by over 80 local volunteers, managed the reviews and will continue to support local community services in the future. Colorado Hometown Weekly
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Boulder County Commissioners voted by a 2+1 margin to update the minimum wage for unincorporated areas; the wage will be $16.82 per hour starting Jan 1, 2026 and will rise yearly by the consumer price index beginning in 2027. The county will soon update its website with FAQs in English and Spanish. Boulder County
- ➤ City officials announced today that coffin burials have been paused indefinitely at Lafayette Cemetery after the state archeologist found overlapping gravesites and unmarked remains during a recent burial—cremains burials will continue while ground-penetrating radar helps update the records at a cost of $83,000. Plot owners can choose to maintain their plot for cremains burial, switch to a plot at Coal Creek Cemetery, or receive a refund. Colorado Hometown Weekly
- ➤ Crews finished resurfacing sections of the LoBo Trail between Monarch Road and Highway 52 in Boulder County — the trail is now open with all detours removed. Minor work remains on parts of the trail, and the Monarch Park Trailhead has also reopened. Boulder County
