  • East Boulder County families can enjoy community events for children and teens this week — Erie hosts Adaptive Storytime on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at its community library; Lafayette offers Littlest Learners on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., bilingual Storytime on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday Storytime on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., a farm storytime on Thursday at 11 a.m., and a Teen Maker Hangout on Monday at 3:30 p.m.; and Louisville hosts a Wildlife Day Celebration on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at the arboretum.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arts Hub on 420 Courtney Way in Lafayette will host the accessible theater production Barefoot in the Park from Sept. 5-7 and Sept. 12-14 — the shows will start at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, and the production features American Sign Language, spoken English and captions to tell the story of newlyweds starting life together in a small New York apartment.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts are set to elect new board members in November, with Boulder Valley holding one contested race in District E between Jeff Anderson and Deann Bucher and uncontested races in Districts B and F—while St. Vrain Valley has two contested races in which six candidates vie for four seats including contests in Districts B and D.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Boulder County is testing 20 new emergency sirens from today through September 15 in Eldorado Springs, Jamestown, Lyons, Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, Superior and unincorporated areas near Marshall—these sirens use clearer technology funded by a federal grant and will play a test message for the community.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On Aug. 21, more than 300 community members celebrated the completion of Phase 1 of Willoughby Corner in Lafayette—where 192 affordable homes and community amenities were unveiled. Future plans include adding 128 rental homes and permanently affordable ownership opportunities—marking the largest affordable housing development in Boulder County.  Boulder County
