Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 14th of August.
Good morning, Lafayette.
🏘️ Community
This week, events in East Boulder County include family programs, film nights, concerts, storytimes and a walking tour—highlighted by the Lafayette Peach Festival offering peach pies and local fun on Saturday.
Local organizers host activities at venues such as Erie Community Library, WOW Children's Museum and Nissi’s, inviting residents to join in hands-on learning and neighborhood entertainment throughout the week.
🏛️ Government
Boulder County outlines rules for drivers and cyclists to keep everyone safe—drivers must keep 3 feet away from cyclists while cyclists ride as far right as possible and use proper lights at night.
The guidelines also require drivers to cross double yellow lines only when safe and use hands-free devices, all to reduce accidents.
Boulder County Commissioners tabled a decision on a proposed .15% sales and use tax for mental health services during Tuesday’s meeting as community voices offered both support and caution.
The commissioners will decide on the measure—set to fund treatment, recovery, crisis and prevention services—at the August 19 meeting at the courthouse.
