- ➤ Libby Wagner (16) is the 2025 Boulder County Fair Queen who works hard at the fair by cleaning stalls, grooming horses, and greeting visitors. She will ride her horse with the American flag at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Jack Murphy Outdoor Arena Grandstand and will also take part in sponsor visits and school events. Colorado Hometown Weekly
- ➤ The Boulder County Fair will host a Mexican Rodeo Fiesta on Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. at 9595 Nelson Road—where visitors will see charreria with horse riding, traditional dance, and music that shows Mexican culture. Announcer Luis Canela said charros are training daily in Fort Lupton so guests will experience true heritage. Colorado Hometown Weekly
- ➤ Boulder County Fair will open this week with a Royal Critter Contest where young exhibitors will showcase their farm animals and compete for a $100 prize and crown. The fair will offer a diverse music lineup with acts such as OKAN and Nathaniel Riley as well as carnival rides, special food stands and kid’s day on August 7 — a mix of fun and local tradition that will bring families together — and attendees can enjoy a lively weekend of attractions. - ➤ Boulder County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on August 12 at 1 p.m. at 1325 Pearl Street — 3rd floor — or online to gather feedback on two ballot measures for the November election. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Researchers in Colorado—working with international colleagues—found that cancer survivors who got COVID early in the pandemic had a higher risk of dying from cancer that had spread. Data from the United Kingdom showed that survivors had twice the risk and from the United States a 44% higher risk while researchers continue to study if current COVID variants and vaccines affect this risk.
