TICKETS Over the course of a single evening, Ernestine Ashworth bakes the same birthday cake, again and again, as she grows from age seventeen to one hundred and one. The flames of love ignite, marriages form and dissolve. Children arrive, and spin away towards their own destiny. Loss visits, as it always does. Joy returns, as it always does. The more candles on the cake, the more dazzling the light.
Audiences will recognize themselves in Ernestine at every age—the girl who thinks she’ll change the world, the woman who wonders if she has, the elder who finally understands that she already did, simply by living. Funny, aching, and deeply human, Birthday Candles is a quietly extraordinary meditation on time, family, and the divinity hiding in an ordinary life—one candle at a time.
The Sunday, November 8th, 2:00 PM performance price includes admission to VIVA’s 25TH BIRTHDAY PARTY and Fundraiser in the lobby after the show from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Tickets are $157.50 each.
