About this event

Time is Life: Be Prepared to Save It!

Nestled in our beautiful, yet remote mountain community, we know that every second counts in a medical emergency. When help is further away, your actions can make the difference between life and death. The Sunshine Fire Protection District is offering a vital opportunity to empower yourself with life-saving skills.

Announcing an SFPD Certified American Red Cross First Aid & CPR Course!

Date: November 22, 2026

Location: Sunshine Fire Protection District, Station #1

Why is this course essential for you?

• Mountain Living Demands Preparedness: In our remote location, professional medical response times can be significantly delayed. You are often the first line of defense.

• Minutes Matter: Heart attacks, severe injuries, and other emergencies can become fatal in mere minutes. Knowing CPR and first aid empowers you to act decisively and potentially save a life—perhaps that of a loved one or neighbor.

• Invest in Confidence: For a small investment of time and cost, you can gain the knowledge and practical skills to handle critical situations with confidence.

Course Details:

• Objectives: Learn to react effectively in emergencies, provide life-saving CPR, control severe bleeding, and handle various emergency scenarios.

• Blended Learning: Complete the didactic portion online at your own pace (typically 4-8 hours, with potential to test out of sections).

• Hands-On Practice: The in-person session (approximately 5 hours) focuses on practical skill development, including CPR and AED practice using training models.

• Expert Instruction: Our dedicated instructors, Dr. David Begleiter and Sherri, are known for their kindness, patience, and ability to deliver critical information effectively.

• Certification: Upon successful completion, you will receive an American Red Cross certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and AED use.

• Discounted Price: Thanks to generous volunteer contributions, we are offering this valuable course for only $65.00—a significant discount from the typical $100+ cost.

• A Course for All Ages: Open to SFPD residents 12 and older.

What Past Students Are Saying:

• "I realized I wouldn't know what to do if a family member or friend had a sudden medical emergency. This class changed that."

• "David and Sherri are fantastic instructors—kind and patient, and they will give you critical information that hopefully you will never need. Given our mountain location, help might not be available quickly!"

• "I encourage everyone to invest the time to get this information. Pause and think about exactly what you would do, and if you don't know, take the class!"

Don't wait for an emergency to learn how to respond. Only 10 student spots available. Secure your spot in this life-saving course today!
