About this event
Presented by: Ethan Neil, University of Colorado, Boulder
Abstract: While the astrophysical evidence for dark matter is overwhelming, we know very little about the details of dark matter physics. In this talk, I will discuss an intriguing class of models known as composite dark matter, in which the dark matter is a strongly-coupled bound state of more fundamental dark particles. Strongly-coupled hidden sectors can have a wide range of distinctive signatures in terrestrial and astrophysical experiments, from primordial gravitational waves to strong self-interactions visible at supergalactic scales. As a case study, I will discuss a mirror twin Higgs model which can give rise to dark atoms, dark nuclei, and potentially even dark stars.
