Introducing Train Like a Track Star: Learn to pole vault with former Cornell standout Cassidy Cheesman ’24 and world-class coach and former professional pole vaulter Pat Manson.

Some Saturday plans deserve a running start.

On Saturday, November 7, the Cornell Club of Colorado launches “Train Like a Track Star,” a new series bringing our community together to move, learn and discover what we’re capable of—with exceptional athletes leading the way.

First up: pole vaulting!

Join former Cornell track and field standout Cassidy Cheesman ’24 and former professional pole vaulter Pat Manson, a National Pole Vault Summit Club Coach of the Year, at Above the Bar in Longmont. This world-class training facility counts fellow Cornellians among its local members. For one exhilarating afternoon, we’re joining them.

YOUR AFTERNOON, ELEVATED (literally!)

• Train with a Cornellian. Start with a guided workout led by Cassidy to get moving and ready for the runway.

• Learn from the pros. Watch live demonstrations and discover the technique behind one of track and field’s most thrilling events.

• Take your first vault. Get hands-on instruction and a chance to discover why “one more try” becomes the afternoon’s favorite phrase.

• Find your cheering section. Bring a date. Bring your kids. Bring a friend who’s always up for something new.

• Keep the good times going. Afterward, we’ll gather for dinner, drinks and a toast to trying something extraordinary together.

Cornell’s pole-vaulting legacy includes Olympic gold: Edward Cook, Class of 1910, shared the title at the 1908 London Games. More than a century later, we’re borrowing a little of that spirit: curiosity, courage and a community cheering you on. Your first vault deserves applause, too.
