CGBG / PHIUS Hard Hat Tour + Happy Hour with Bauen Build & Shape Architecture

About this event

Join us as the Colorado Green Building Guild continues their famous Hard Hat Tours. This month, Phius Alliance Southwest Colorado Committee co-hosts this event featuring a PHIUS Design Certified Passive single family home in Boulder!

Flatirons House sits on a cherished family lot in Boulder’s Chautauqua neighborhood, where the owner grew up and plans to return seasonally from the East Coast. Designed as a compact Passive House, it features single-floor living with a basement for visiting family. A simple, modern form with a single-pitch roof captures iconic Flatirons views and winter sun. Nestled in a lush garden originally cultivated by the owner's mother, the home is both a retreat and a quiet tribute to family legacy.

The build features a hybrid wall assembly, with both exterior insulation and an interior service cavity; the home is monopoly framed with exterior insulation above the roof sheathing. The project recently had beautiful Smartwin wood windows installed. There will be various passive house details to review such as: foundation to wall assembly, interior air barrier, and service cavity.

Michael Wilks and Matt Brill of Bauen Build , as well as Erica Robinson and Steve Scribner of Shape Architecture Studio will be guiding us through this project.

Please dress appropriately for an active construction site.

Property is located in Boulder. Address will be emailed to participants a couple of days before the event.
