Make It Stick: Using theme to create stories that will stay with readers
Have you ever read a book that you kept thinking about days after you finished it? Wondering how to write a story that leaves other readers feeling the same way? The answer lies in your story’s theme. “Theme” is a term that gets thrown around a lot and can feel slippery to define, much less use in your book, but in this workshop we will discuss how to choose or discover the theme of your story, how to use it to tie your character growth and plot together, and why it’s the most important tool in a writer’s tool box.
Bio: Chelsea Pennington is a romance author with three published books. She holds a degree in English/Creative Writing from Samford University and previously worked as a freelance editor. She shares the lessons she has learned from writing and editing in the hundreds of articles on her website and now on her Substack, Chelsea’s Story Cafe. When she's not writing, you can probably find her reading or being distracted by birds.
