About this event
TYPE: Hike | PACE: Fitness | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, trail, hills | DIFFICULTY: Moderate | DISTANCE: Approx. 4 miles |
Walk Description: Fall is the ideal time for this high-intensity urban hike, which showcases some of the prettiest areas of the city. We'll hike UP through the west side of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) campus, to the Kohler Mesa Trail and onto Enchanted Mesa, down through the McClintock Trail and onto Four Pines for a great view of the city. We'll have a fun adventure and get some great exercise. Here is a link to the map for this hike (which is also chapter 2 in "The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder"): https://caltopo.com/m/RSV0
Schedule and Planning: We'll start and end at 22nd St. and King Ave., where King dead ends at a wrought-iron gate to the NIST campus. Plenty of parking on King, or take the SKIP and get off near 27th Way, then walk to meet us. Please be on time - we'll start walking by 9:05 am.
Trip Notes: ~ No dogs on this one, please (they are not allowed on the Lower McClintock Trail). ~ Dress comfortably for the weather, bring sun protection and water, and anything else you need to stay comfortable outside.
Release of liability : By signing up for this hike, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and well-being throughout the event. This is a volunteer-led experience. Volunteers are not liable for any injury or illness that may happen during the event or that results from participating in this event. Please take good care to only sign up for walks or hikes that are within your skill level and comfort. As always, have fun and be safe!
