About this event

Join us on November 7 th from 11 AM – 2 PM for our second Electrify the Speedway event at the Colorado National Speedway! This is a fun, free community event to test your skills in an electric vehicle (EV) and win prizes!

Drive Clean Colorado is co-hosting this event with Adams County, the City of Brighton, the City of Northglenn, the City of Westminster, the City of Louisville, and the Town of Erie.

This event is free to all community members, but to participate in the EV skills test, Regenerative Braking Demonstration, and Ride & Drive, you must be 18 years old or older and have a valid driver’s license.

Please register to attend on Eventbrite . Eventbrite will confirm your attendance, then when you arrive you can sign up to participate in the Skills Test, Regenerative Braking Demonstration, and Ride & Drive.

What to Expect:

Speedway Skills Test:

• Come get behind the wheel of an EV to test your driving skills. You will have the opportunity to take a vehicle on the track of the Colorado National Speedway and complete a pre-prescribed skills test along with a professional driver.

• This is not a speed or racing event. A professional driver will be there to guide you through the course.

• During the skills test, judges will provide you with a score at the end, based on your driving skills. You will be placed on a leaderboard with the opportunity to win a YETI COOLER .

Regenerative Braking Demonstration:

• On the drag strip, you will have the chance to feel regenerative braking firsthand. Regenerative braking is a mechanism that puts electricity back into the car’s battery by reversing the motors when you stop accelerating.

• To get a feel for this experience, we will have you accelerate to 30 MPH on the drag strip, then release the acceleration to see how regenerative braking works in real time. The point of this event is to learn and experience what regenerative braking feels like, not how fast an EV can go. There is no competition involved in this challenge.

EV Ride and Drive:

• If you’re curious about how an EV handles outside of the skills test, we are also offering an EV ride and drive where you can take an EV around the block to see what it’s like on the open road

Expo:

• While you wait, you can visit one of our booths to learn more about EV ownership, charging, utility engagement, and available funding.

You can expect to chat with:

• Drive Clean Colorado

• Monarca Group

• Xcel Energy

• Power Ahead Colorado

• United Power

• ADC Electric

• You will also have the opportunity to speak with local EV owners about their ownership experiences in Colorado.

Food:

• While you wait for your turn to drive, you can sit back and watch other drivers complete the skills test, while enjoying some food from the venue’s bar.

• There will also be free coffee as supplies last.

What to Bring:

• Driver’s License

• Jacket (this is an outdoor event)
