Christmas in the Air — Black Friday Painting Class

About this event

Classes are held in Hope Blakely’s professional working art studio and gallery in Arvada, Colorado—the same creative space where Hope paints, teaches, and displays original artwork. Skip the Black Friday crowds and spend the morning painting instead. In this three-hour acrylic class with Hope Blakely, we’ll create Christmas in the Air — a festive Santa scene filled with snowy evergreens and glowing bubbles. You’ll learn how to build depth in layered trees, create a warm holiday background, paint soft snow textures, shape Santa from behind without complicated facial details, and make bubbles feel transparent and reflective with color, highlights, and soft edges. The most personal part comes at the end: each painter can add their own Christmas wishes, hopes, names, memories, or little messages inside the bubbles — fill in your wishes and hope they come true. Each student will create their own version of the painting, so exact copying is not expected. All supplies are included, including a 16 × 20 canvas, acrylic paint, use of brushes, and aprons if needed. You’ll take your finished painting home at the end of class. Ages 14+. Class size is limited to 6 painters.
